The pensioners of Farringdon were heading to the Church on Monday night for the Annual Over 65's Farringdon Christmas Dinner.
The annual event has been held almost every year () and since 2015, when the Folly was no longer available, the Church became a very popular venue for the event.
Due to the lack of catering facilities the menu was revised from the full blown Christmas Dinner to an excellent meal which can be prepared by the many volunteers in the village and transported to the Church.
The Diners were soon assembling, although some more determined diners were demanding entrance to book their places before the organisers had sorted themselves out.
Very soon the majority of diners had found themselves a seat and were settling in with a glass of wine or a beer from the two very efficient wine dispensers
John Cavendish () was selecting wine from The Head waiter, David Hartley and () Gardening Club Hon Secretary,
Chris Bohringer, was safely seated
Woody and Karen (), ably assisted by Gwendy Black were settled in and passing down the starters to the other occupants of the table . . .
With the very enjoyable meal finished Diners were engaged in conversation and enjoying conversations with their fellow diners with the wine waiters and helpers still in action topping up the glasses.
David Hartley's expression of thanks for the providers of the service and others who had contributed to the Christmas Dinner event was enthusiastically applauded.
With the arrival of the organist and the distribution of the Carol Sheets, serious and enthusiastic Carol Singing was
soon underway.
After the National Anthem the drinks and conversations were finally finished and the Guests made their way home while the helpers cleared up ready for the re-installation of the pews next day.
Thanks to All those who contributed, prepared the food, helped out on the night and contributed to a very popular event
