DINNER IN THE FOLLY: Part 1- Updated 16th December 2007
The Village Hall was reopened, cleaned up and decorated for the Farringdon Christmas Dinner held in the Follly last Monday (9th Dec).
For probably the first time for any village event your photographer arrived early to find Hopper putting the final touches to the magnificent table decorations The Head Chef was opening the Chianti although your photographer only hovered briefly in this vicinity as there was some doubt about the next target for the cork screw. Hurriedly making my way back into the main part of the Hall I discovered that the first of the Diners had arrived to claim their seats. Back in the kitchen a familiar figure was putting the final touches to the starter for the evening prior delivery to the tables The Hall was filling up as The Parish Clerk, Official Fire Warden for the evening, made his way through the tables to take his seat adjacent to the car park exit (I should point out here that the reason Mike is out of focus this early in the evening is entirely due to the length of the exposure)
The Maitre d' , Tim Charrington was on hand to make sure everybody was in the proper place and answer any queries
Special guests deserve first class treatment and the Maitre d' was on hand to greet Peggy on her arrival in the Hall For a change, a real photographer was in front of the camera and obviously entering in to the spirit of the evening, although there is a slight possibility the sherry might have contributed something
By now almost everyone had taken their place and were catching up on all the local gossip
The Rev. Tony Pears arrived, sporting a very fetching hat complete with flashing red lights to call the Diners to order for Grace.
