"LOVE FOR ALL" . . . Updated 9th March 2008
The recently reopened Village Hall was the venue for another in the series of "Peace Seminars" organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
At first sight Farringdon seems an unlikely choice but the Ahmadiyya Community hold their annual UK Convention at Bakers Farm, just off the bottom of Worldham Hill, which brings together thousands of community members from all over the world.
It has to be said that the not many residents turned out but a combination of occasional showers and the fact that England v Scotland was live on the Television had a considerable influence but , given England's dismal performance on the day, I 'm not sure a visit to the Folly wasn't a better option.
On my arrival I was welcomed ( An unusual experience for your reporter ) by the Gentleman pictured left, Dr Sardar Hamid Ahmad, The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association's National Islam Awareness Secretary, based at the Associations Headquarters in Morden, Surrey, where they have built a new Mosque, and Naseer Shams (below right) from just over the Surrey border who represents the local branch of the community

The portrait of the founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, Hadrad Ahmad was prominent among the display boards describing the aims and beliefs of the Association which has, and is continuing to make, efforts to work with local communities, to promote understanding between people of all faiths and respect and co-operation between all religions has been important to the community since it was founded by (right) over a hundred years ago in India.
The Ahmadiyya Community believe in equality between Men and Women of any religion and have funded schools, medical and social facilities in many parts of the world.
A considerably more distinguished visitor than your reporter was Pam Bradford, Chairman of East Hampshire District Council,. who was presented with a copy of the Qu'ran by Hala Shams.
Many thanks to Zaheer Qamar for the photo above and for supplying the names of those present
as your incompetent reporter totally failed to record any details of his visit. For more information visit www.ahmadiyya.org.uk
