Karen Deane's First Friends Pre School Nursery has returned to Farringdon after an enorced move due to the closure of the Village Hall. The Nursery School reopened on Monday 25th June following a major refurnbishment of the Western end of the Folly, the premises once occupied by the Village School.
First Friends first opened in May 2004 with Karen and just one Assistant, since then numbers have grown and now employs 8 qualified staff, including 2 deputy managers who are both teacher trained.
First Friends is registered to take up to 48 children, of which there are 8 places for children aged 1-2 years.
The pre school is also registered to provide 2 ½ hours FREE nursery education for 3 and 4 year olds per day under the nursery education grant scheme and there are still places available.
The nursery is open 5 days a week, all year , except for the two week Christmas period. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is the aim of First Friends nursery to ensure that each child receives the care and education that will influence every aspect of their development. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum provides the framework within which the nursery intends to work to achieve these aims. In practice, these
will be achieved through a combination of planned, adult led activities, child centred play and practical 'hands on ' experiences. These will cover the 6 Early learning Goals of:
Personal, social and emotional development Communication, language and literacy Mathematical development Knowledge and understanding of the world Physical development Creative development
Karen believes that the best learning takes place when children are having fun. The curriculum will be carefully planned to ensure that this is achieved in a variety of ways, and children's ideas and needs will be catered for. The intention is to work in partnership with parents with regard to all aspects of their children's development.
In addition, any parent who wishes to join in with their child's play and learning activities is welcome to do so.If you would like further details or a prospectus Karen's contact details are as follows:
