THERE IT WAS . . . GONE. . . Updated 30th June 2009
One day the roof was off - a couple of days later that remains is the old garage floor now Mole End (formerly Bowyers) is no more although the demolition didn't pass unnoticed after the village was enveloped in a pall of smoke when the demolition team set fire to some of the combustible material remaining on site.
Some of the more skilled Faringdon bonfire specialists in the Village were left feeling somewhat inadequate when they witnessed the volume and cloud produced by the end of Mole End
Some of the more determined residents groped their way to the telephone to consult various environmental bodies about the possible risks and to question the legality of the conflagration.
With the site now more or less cleared, housholders with properties around the site are now awaiting the arrival of the prefabricated building that will replace the original bungalow. Apparently this edifice will arrive on two large vehicles which will be interesting, bearing in mind the width of Crows Lane and approach roads around the Village.
No doubt affected parties in the surrounding houses will keep your reporter informed of any problems!
