WHAT DO THE STARS foretell for 2012? - Updated 2nd January 2012
Well nobody is less likely to have any idea of what the future holds than Farringdon Astrologer Ms Aphelia Boddy, who is not entirely sure which planet she is on let alone which year it is. Due to various circumstances Ms Boddy was not available to provide this service until she resurfaced well after the Christmas and New Year festivities. However, as a service to the gullible and thanks to our generous sponsors, we once again publish Ms Boddy's "Predictions" for the coming year . . . more

CHAWTON AND FARRINGDON BUSINESS NETWORKING GROUP . . Updated 20th July 2011
In business, who you know can be as important to success as what you know. A business networking group is a group formed of like minded business people, to build new business relationships, to help and support one another where possible, and to possible recognize, and generate new business opportunities.
Ideally such a group avoids stuffiness and cufflinks, and instead provides opportunities for lots of networking, both online and in real life.
If you are interested in participating in the Chawton & Farringdon Business Networking Group, please contact Tim Lees or Donal O'Connell.
We are planning on officially launching this group in the Autumn of 2011 if there are enough expressions of interest here in the two villages.
It does not matter what type of business you operate, whether it is a life style type business or a growth type business, whether it is still in the planning stage or already well established, whether a sole trader or limited company.

CARBON NEUTRAL HOUSING IN FARRINGDON?. . . Updated 25th Jan 2011
Carbon neutral housing is all the rage at the moment and Farringdon is way ahead of the competition, news and pictures have reached the Biz showing a dwelling constructed in Gaston Lane using renewable materials available locally all of which can be 100% recycled. Too good to be true? There's more, a legal loophole allows construction without involving local planners or entering into the planning lottery set up by the South Downs National Park consultation executives. . . more
FARRINGDON
SALT / GRIT BINS :
These distinctive yellow salt/grit bins have been provided by Farringdon Parish Council and the contents by Hampshire County Council entirely to improve the safety of vehicles (and their occupants) using public roads. They are deliberately sited at three intersections not usually covered by EHDC gritting lorries and where there is an increased risk from snow and ice. Contractors were topping up the bin down by the A32 cross-roads on Sunday morning (19th Dec)
The contents are NOT FOR USE ON PRIVATE PROPERTIES and anyone seen removing the salt/grit contents for their own use may be prosecuted for theft.
Granulated salt for use on private premises is widely available from local builder's merchants and hardware stores. - Farringdon Parish Council
PROVISION OF FURTHER RECYCLING FACILITIES IN FARRINGDON:
Lyn and Russell are to site a recycling bin in the car park of the Rose and Crown to receive unwanted shoes and clothing which will be sent to the needy of third-world countries (particularly on the African continent), and the children's charity, the Variety Club of Great Britain will also benefit financially. - This will be for a trial period during the whole of January 2011, so if you don't want to lose it use it!
APPLICATION TO BUILD BETWEEN THE PHEASANT AND MARELANDS TURNED DOWN. . Updated 16th December 2010
The 50-odd objectors to this planning application will be relieved to hear that the application to build adjacent to Marelands (See Official Report below for more information) has been turned down by East Hants District Council. It seems unlikely that any minor alteration in the application will succeed. For those who have not heard directly from EHDC on this ruling, more detailed information is available from all Parish Councillors or the Parish Clerk. Mike Findlay - Parish Clerk
