YOUR CARRIAGE AWAITS - updated 30th June 2007
The sun broke through with impeccable timing for a village wedding last Saturday afternoon(23rdJune) when a carriage and pair carried the newly qualified Doctor Fiona Fuller to All Saints Church for her marriage to Mr Derek Murphy.
Your reporter (as usual) arrived to late to record the arrival of the Bride but there was just time for a quick shot of the immaculately turned out carriage and pair waiting to transport the Bride and Groom from the Church.
A short dash up the path to the Church path and your photographer arrived just in time to record the moment the newly married Mr and Mrs Murphy emerged from the Church to pose beneath the flowers for a proper photographer and the official wedding video recorder.
Derek and Doctor Murphy were totally oblivious to all this as they were still posing for photographs in the Church porch, every move being recorded by the officially appointed videographer.
Traffic was beginning to build up in the doorway as the Best Man and the Bridesmaids were next on the list for the attention of the photographer.
Quite what the Parents of the Bride were discussing here is a matter of conjecture, although a wedding guest generously offered the suggestion that this was the moment that one had just dicovered that the other had invited your reporter for drinks the following day.
The Bride and Groom were now under the flowers at the Church Gate with the bridesmaids in close attendance not to mention a battery of cameras recording the events of the day.
The Carriage horses, waiting patiently on the Green, had a grandstand view as the guests were carefully arranged for the group photograph.
Formalities completed, the carriage moved off, carrying the Derek and Fiona around the village to the reception at the brides home.
After a liesurely return trip the carriage returned to transport the Bridesmaids and Di home in style to the reception with perfect timing, just making it as the rain set in for the afternoon.
