TIME FOR A SPRING CLEAN?. . . Updated 23rd March 2011

Clearing the Undergrowth

The Church Green was the centre of activity on Saturday as the area came under attack from a coalition task force. No military hardware here though, armed with nothing more lethal than an assortment of gardening implements a team of parishioners were attacking the undergrowth along the border of the Churchyard.

Zoe was wielding a severely serious pair of loppers, as were Messrs Harrison Bevin and The Rev. Pears

Iain Ross, The Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator came to investigate exactly what your reporter was taking pictures of with the aid of a mobile phone, while your reporter was taking care to keep out of range of the various cutting implements.
Welcome to Farringdon

The activity attracted the attention of one of Faringdon's newest residents renovating his house nearby who took the opportunity to introduce himself to the assembled team, who were about to take a coffee break in the Village Hall.
You're not getting any coffee!

One look from Mrs Ross was enough to indicate to your reporter that, having done absolutely nothing, he was unlikely to be offered a coffee and not wishing to risk the embarrassment of being ejected forcibly from the Village Hall I made my excuses and sneaked back across the parish border.

Despite my interference the team, which included several villagers not pictured here, did a magnificent job, clearing up all the overgrowth of the hedgerow on the western side of the churchyard and tidying the paths.
