BERRY COTTAGE GARDENS . . . Updated 5th May 2007
Parking
in Church Road was at a premium last Sunday (29th April) as visitors flocked
to the inaugural opening of Berry Cottage Garden under the National Gardens
Scheme.
The
Resident Gardener, Phyll Watts, was on hand to provide information and offer
advice and expert guidance to visitors.
What
could be better on a warm spring afternoon than a Cream Tea. Not surprisingly
the catering department was fully stretched throughout the afternoon and supplies
were virtually exhausted by the end of the day.
From
personal experience, I can recommend the fare on offer having been provided
with a sample of their offerings by one of the charming ladies dispensing tea,
cream scones and a mouth watering variety of cakes and sponges from the Berry
Cottage Kitchen.(I'm sure I've seen this lady before somewhere)
Visitors
were still arriving half an hour before the garden closed, taking advantage
of the evening sun to view the horticultural delights of the Berry Cottage Garden.
The
residents of course, are entitled to special privileges and took the opportunity
for a few minutes relaxation on their reserved seating at the end of a glorious
day.
