FUN DAY IN FARRINGDON
Farringdon Fun Day is now being advertised nationally, regionally and locally through the BBC and other media networks, coupled with a host of willing volunteers from the Village.
Brian and Steph Oakes at the Rose & Crown say they have about ten people a day asking about the Folly. The web site is getting hits from well wishers. Generally the word is getting through about the Folly being on the Restoration programme.
The Fun Day on the 29th July 2006, the day after the programme is screened will start at 10:30 am - details below
In the evening the numbers will have died down and, after a short break between 5:00 and 6:00 pm there will be live music, a hoc roast and a charity auction. We want to sell as many tickets as possible to the village as to make this a celebration of being on the Restoration programme.
Volunteers will be knocking at your doors soon. They will be selling tickets for the Hog Roast and the Raffle. The Hog Roast tickets are being sold prior tothe event at a preferential rate for villagers, their families and friends. Those sold on the day will be at a higher price.
The Charity Auction that will take place in the evening has some fantastic sports memorabilia, art work and the opportunity to fly a glider from Lasham Airfield. There really are some quality items to bid for.
The Raffle, which will be drawn at 3:00 PM,also has many fabulous prizes..
Please join in the fun on the day. This is a fund raising effort for the Folly so please support us.

Road Closure and Parking
Road Closure, to protect pedestrians, will be undertaken in consultation with the Police. This will affect Crows Lane, from The Rose & Crown to Church Road and Church Road from The Folly to the Church path at the eastern end of the Churchyard. There may also be some restrictions in Hall Lane
A free bus service will operate from Alton Station to Parsonage Close at 10:45 am, 11:45 am 12:45 PM, 2:10 PM, 3:10 pm and 4:10 PM you can get on the bus and make a round trip if you wish entirely free of charge.
Despite some rumours that have gone round the village we are not seeking to remove the trees on Shirnall Hill. We are looking to have them trimmed back so that the bus is not damaged when entering or leaving the village. If the landowners would like to contact Donna Corbin on 588644 to discuss whether this would be possible she would be very grateful to hear from them. Part of the work that has to be done for Fun Day is a Health & Safety Risk Assessment and ensuring that there are no claims fro damage is high on our list of priorities.
Parking will be by kind permission of Paul Andersen in Gaston Lane and the Rowes and the Cavendishes who are allowing us to use their fields off Hall Lane.
All Marquees are being provide by John Merrix and Oli Charrington
Brian and Steph are allowing us to use Aylward's Meadow for the main events, their support has been invaluable.
Thank you to everyone who is making this day special. We have been offered such a lot of support from within the village and we are truly grateful for it.
We are delighted to bring you the news that Massey's Folly Preservation Trust has been awarded £49,400 by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This money will be used under the strict monitoring procedures lain down by the Fund.
The award is for productionof a conservation, access and audience development plan and to pay for a worker for one year to develop the proposals and plans in consultation with the community, local voluntary groups, users of the building, local, regional and national statutory bodies and other relevant groups that may be identified.
